Severe hailstorm hits northern Moldova villages on May 30
The northern districts of Moldova were hit on Saturday, May 30, by torrential rain accompanied by hail, according to local reports and social media footage.
The most affected area appears to be Glinjeni village in Fălești district, where residents documented significant damage caused by the storm.
A local resident shared video footage from his household, showing damage to his garden after the hailstorm and strong winds.
“It looked like it had snowed in the garden. The currant bushes were shattered. There was also lightning. You cannot stand against nature,” the resident said.
Meteorologists had issued a yellow-level weather alert for atmospheric instability for Saturday, warning of heavy rain, hail, and strong winds until 17:00.
