Hungary accident: Six of nine passengers were Moldovan citizens

Out of the nine people in the minibus involved in the accident in Hungary, six were citizens of the Republic of Moldova, and some also held Romanian citizenship. Additionally, three passengers in the minibus were Romanian citizens.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), the two individuals who were injured and transported to the hospital are citizens of the Republic of Moldova and also hold Romanian citizenship.
"The information communicated to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Hungary by the competent authorities indicates that of the nine people in the minibus, six were citizens of the Republic of Moldova, some of whom also held Romanian citizenship, while three were Romanian citizens. The two injured individuals who required medical care are citizens of the Republic of Moldova with Romanian citizenship,” the MFA reported.
It is important to note that two vehicles with registration plates from the Republic of Moldova were involved in two tragic accidents that occurred on Friday morning, June 12, on the M1 highway near the city of Győr, Hungary.
At approximately 4:30 AM, a truck collided with a work machine near Győr, causing the truck to catch fire upon impact. Unfortunately, the driver died at the scene.
Shortly afterwards, around 5:10 AM, a minibus struck a truck that had been parked due to traffic restrictions following the first accident. The minibus contained nine people: seven died at the scene, and two others were injured.
Tünde Mogyorósi, spokeswoman for the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Police Inspectorate, confirmed that both the truck that caught fire and the minibus in which seven people died had Moldovan license plates. All the deceased were men.
Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. President Maia Sandu also extended her condolences to the grieving families and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
