Over 9 million lei invested in Chioselia through national programs
The commune of Chioselia, located in the Cantemir district, is set to benefit from four local development projects funded by national programs such as "European Village", "European Village Express", and "Europe is Near" between 2022 and 2026. These investments will modernize the water supply infrastructure, rehabilitate roads, create a playground, and develop a recreational area. The total funding from the state budget is over 9.4 million lei.
One of the most significant projects underway is "Quality water for every resident of Chioselia commune", which is part of the second edition of the National Program "European Village." The construction began in September 2025 and is scheduled for completion in October 2026, according to a press release from the National Office for Regional and Local Development (ONDRL).
This project includes the construction of 14.27 kilometers of external aqueduct networks, the installation of two water towers, each with a capacity of 50 cubic meters and a height of 12 meters, as well as the drilling of an artesian well.
After the project is completed, approximately 350 households, home to about 1,200 residents, along with six public and social institutions, including a gymnasium and a kindergarten, will have access to a modern public drinking water supply system. The educational institutions targeted by this project serve 156 students and 70 children.
To implement the project, the Government allocated 7,545,280.53 lei from the state budget through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL).
Another initiative, carried out under the Government Program "Europe is Close," focused on improving access to the kindergarten in the village of Chioselia, located on Viitorului Street. The renovation works, which took place from March to June 2026, involved a complete repair of a section of the local road that provides access to the early childhood education institution and approximately 30 households.
According to the local public administration, the sector had not received significant repairs for approximately 40 years. The deteriorating infrastructure made it difficult for children, parents, kindergarten employees, and local residents to access the area.
The rehabilitated section now provides a connection to the regional route G-132, linking the Taraclia and Cahul districts. For this project, 1,399,548.97 lei was allocated from the state budget through the FNDRL.
Investments in children's infrastructure began earlier with the first edition of the “European Village” Program. As part of this initiative, a modern playground was established in the village of Chioselia for the children of the early education institution. The project received funding of 168,500 lei from the state budget through the FNDRL.
The playground is designed for over 70 preschoolers in the kindergarten, as well as for other children in the community who can use it for recreational activities during their free time.
Additionally, through a national program, the Chioselia commune has developed a recreational area that includes a football field. This project was part of the "European Express Village" program, with an investment of 350,000 lei allocated from the state budget through FNDRL.
The new area is intended for children and young people who are passionate about sports, as well as for the entire community, which can participate in competitions and sporting events organized in the commune.
Valeriu Axenti, the mayor of Chioselia commune, asserts that the investments made through national programs have a direct positive impact on the community and contribute to the modernization of local infrastructure.
"These projects demonstrate the concrete impact of the National Programs on the development of rural communities and represent an important step in the modernization of local infrastructure. Each investment made in the Chioselia commune contributes to increasing the quality of life of the inhabitants and to the sustainable development of our community", declared Valeriu Axenti.
The mayor thanked the local authorities for the support and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the central and local administrations.
"Through the efficient collaboration between the central and local authorities, the Chioselia commune continues to develop for the benefit of all its inhabitants", the mayor said.
The local authority aims to expand the water supply infrastructure in the village of Țărăncuța, part of the Chioselia commune, and hopes to achieve this objective through a future edition of the "European Village" Program.
"We are looking forward to the next edition of the "European Village" Program, which will offer us new funding opportunities for the expansion of the aqueduct system in the village of Țărăncuța", stated Valeriu Axenti.
The commune of Chioselia includes the villages of Chioselia, which is the residence village, and Ţărancuţa. It has a population of approximately 2,200, including 500 children.
