Russia's ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after Russian drone explosions in Moldova

Oleg Ozerov, the designated Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Chișinău, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Thursday, October 1, after three Russian drones flew through the airspace of the Republic of Moldova during the attacks on Ukraine on September 30. Two of the three drones crashed and exploded on Moldovan territory, near certain villages. The MFA condemned the incidents, noting that "these violations directly threaten the security of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova."

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Russian Federation to immediately halt attacks on Ukraine and any actions that endanger the Republic of Moldova. The Ministry condemns the serious violation of the country's airspace by three drones on Wednesday, September 30; two of the drones crashed and exploded on national territory," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

The designated ambassador of the Russian Federation must report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters at 2:00 PM.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu also condemned these violations of national airspace, which endanger the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

The Speaker emphasized that no one was injured following the latest explosion on the evening of September 30.

"Following the explosion, a crater approximately 50 centimeters in diameter and about 30 centimeters deep was formed at the site," said Igor Grosu.

Emergency services and police handled the aftermath, responding quickly to the crash site.

"During the on-site investigation, traffic on the Ivancea–Brănești route was temporarily restricted for the safety of citizens. We categorically condemn—and will continue to condemn—every instance of illegal overflights of our airspace. We cannot and must not normalize such incidents, especially when they occur increasingly close to our communities and people," Grosu added.

The official thanked the institutions that managed the situation and called upon citizens to remain vigilant and strictly follow the authorities' recommendations in the event of similar incidents.

We remind you that the last unauthorized flight was detected on Wednesday evening at 8:45 PM, amidst massive attacks launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

According to data recorded by the authorities, the object crossed the border from Shershentsi (Vinnytsia region, Ukraine) toward the village of Slobozia-Rașcov in the Transnistrian region.

It then headed toward the village of Țâpova in the Rezina district.

The object disappeared from monitoring systems near the village of Brănești in the Orhei district.

At 9:07 PM, the airspace in the central region was reopened, and shortly thereafter, authorities announced that an explosion had occurred near the road between the villages of Brănești and Ivancea in the Orhei district.

Surveillance cameras in a local resident's yard captured the moment of the explosion.

The drone's explosion created three craters. Drone fragments were scattered within a 120-meter radius. Among them are wing components bearing the "Geran-4" marking, electronic units, propulsion system elements, and a turbojet engine showing signs of thermal impact.

On the morning of the same day, another drone crashed and exploded near the village of Hârbovăț in the Anenii Noi district, damaging a communications antenna.

The drone exploded at an altitude of about 40 meters, and drone fragments were scattered over a radius of approximately 265 meters.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, 85 Russian drones and missiles have illegally violated the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.
