Chișinău Airport surpasses its 2025 passenger record

Published

Chișinău Airport has surpassed its 2025 passenger total and is targeting seven million travellers by year-end, its administration said, as rising traffic puts pressure on infrastructure and operations.

Seven million passengers in sight

“Together, we are looking ahead with confidence to reaching seven million passengers this year,” Sergiu Spoială, director-general of Eugen Doga Chișinău International Airport, said.

The airport's 2025 passenger record stood at 6,080,431, marking a 46.8% increase from 4,142,413 passengers in 2024. The milestone was surpassed in early November 2026, according to the airport administration.

Passenger traffic had already shown strong growth in September, when the airport handled 761,886 travellers, up 17.9% from the same month in 2025.

Antalya, Istanbul, Yerevan and Paris were among the destinations with significant passenger flows, according to the airport.

Rising traffic puts pressure on infrastructure

The increase in passenger numbers is placing growing pressure on the airport's infrastructure and operational resources.

Managing the higher traffic volumes requires sustained efforts from airport employees, ground handling teams, the Border Police, the Customs Service and air traffic controllers, the airport administration said.

Infrastructure development and adaptation remain priorities as the airport seeks to keep pace with rising demand. The main focus is on increasing passenger processing capacity, improving operational efficiency and maintaining service quality.
