Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian discusses energy crisis and EU support for the Republic of Moldova in Brussels
During a two-day visit to Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian discussed with top European officials the impact of the energy crisis on the Transnistrian region and the entire country. The Moldovan official expressed gratitude for the emergency assistance package recently announced by the European Commission, aimed at purchasing and transporting natural gas to the left bank of the Nistru.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian briefed the European Union member states in the EU Political and Security Committee, chaired by Ambassador Delphine Pronk, and discussed concrete modalities of support with the Director General of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman, and the Director of the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments, Peter M. Wagner.
During the visit, discussions were also held with the Vice-President of the European Commission, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, and the European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen.
Deputy Prime Minister Serebrian highlighted the importance of European support for the energy security of the Republic of Moldova and stressed that the measures adopted will contribute to ensuring more affordable prices for gas and electricity for all citizens of the country. Also, he reiterated Chisinau's commitment to advance in the processes of reintegration and European integration, considering them national strategic priorities.
The European Union reconfirmed its readiness to support the Republic of Moldova in its efforts to strengthen energy security and reintegration of the country, underlining the need for sustainable solutions to manage the challenges in the region, reads a statement of the Government.
