Moldova's honey exports grow significantly in 2024
Honey exports increased significantly between January and October 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, growing from 1,300 to 3,100 tons.

These figures were presented by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture at the 2025 National Beekeeping Forum, which gathered beekeepers, experts, and policymakers to explore solutions for the sustainable growth of the sector.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Iurie Scripnic, highlighted that 80% of advance subsidy applications come from beekeepers, demonstrating that the sector is dynamic and ready for expansion.
According to him, Moldovan honey is earning recognition in foreign markets, and local beekeepers are becoming more competitive.
He also announced that an "electronic apiary passport" is being developed—a digital record that will include essential details about each hive, such as its location, bee health, applied treatments, and honey yield.
Additionally, a national program is set to be introduced to incorporate honey into school meal plans.
The forum also addressed modern hive optimization technologies, organic certification of beekeeping products, and marketing strategies aimed at strengthening Moldova’s presence in global markets.
