Israeli embassy staff killed near D.C. Jewish museum

Two staff members from the Israeli Embassy were shot and killed on Wednesday evening near the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirmed the attack, adding that an investigation is ongoing.

According to sources cited by CNN, the incident took place in the immediate vicinity of the FBI headquarters, directly across from the museum. The Israeli Ambassador to the United States was not present at the scene. The Israeli Embassy is working closely with American authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The event occurred during a gathering organized by the American Jewish Committee (AJC). Ted Deutch, AJC CEO, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, offering condolences to the victims’ families and affirming support for law enforcement efforts.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, strongly condemned the shooting, calling it “a heinous act of antisemitic terrorism.”

Local authorities have urged residents and visitors to avoid the area as investigations continue.
