Boldurești vote recount for mayoral race held today
The ballots from the mayoral elections in Boldurești commune, which took place on June 1, are being recounted today, June 7, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the local Culture House. This recount is happening after the Central Electoral Commission accepted an appeal filed by independent candidate Sergiu Bulicanu, who reported several irregularities in the election process.
Today, a recount of voters and signatures from the electoral lists, as well as valid and invalid ballots, will occur for the mayoral election across three polling stations in Boldurești commune, Nisporeni district.
According to the decision of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the results of this recount are expected to be made public by June 8.
We remind you that Nicanor Ciochină won the mayoral elections in Boldurești commune with 615 votes, 13 votes more than his opponent, Sergiu Bulicanu.
Nicanor Ciochină faces serious allegations, including the fatal injury of a 14-year-old child on the evening of February 19, 2024, after which he fled the scene. He is accused of attempting to conceal evidence related to the incident and evading criminal prosecution. Additionally, a doctor from Nisporeni is also under investigation for allegedly assisting Ciochină in hiding evidence. This doctor is currently being investigated while not in custody and denies any wrongdoing. Previously, he had been suspended from his position by the Central Electoral Commission.
