Domnica Manole and Sergiu Litvinenco appointed by the Government as Constitutional Court judges for the next six years

Domnica Manole, the current President of the Constitutional Court, and Sergiu Litvinenco, the former Minister of Justice, were appointed as judges of the Constitutional Court for a six-year term. Their official duties will commence on August 17. This decision was approved during a government meeting on Tuesday, June 24.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean highlighted the significant contributions of both magistrates in strengthening the rule of law. He stated, "I would like to recognize Ms. Manole's over 20-year career, during which she has demonstrated professionalism through courageous and balanced decisions that have helped fortify the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova. As President of the Constitutional Court in recent years, she has upheld respect for the Constitution with dignity."

Regarding Sergiu Litvinenco, the former Minister of Justice, Recean noted that he "initiated and essentially began the most challenging reform in the Republic of Moldova: the judiciary reform. He provided the necessary tools to cleanse the judiciary and establish a rule of law that ensures the rights of all citizens in the Republic of Moldova are respected."
