Clean water for Abaclia, thanks to “European Village” program

More than three thousand residents of the village of Abaclia in the Basarabeasca district will receive quality drinking water due to the modernization of the water supply system. This project, part of the "European Village" Program, aims to eliminate frequent malfunctions, improve water quality, and ensure stable pressure in the network.
Residents of Abaclia report frequent issues with the water supply and quality, especially during the summer when water consumption increases significantly.
"We sometimes encounter problems with water supply. Without water, you can’t do anything. There are certain wells with good springs, and people rely on drinking water from those wells".
"The aqueduct was in very poor condition, as it was built 30-40 years ago. There were three cracks in the old pipes, and where the water is lost, electricity is also lost", say residents.
Natalia Dodic, the director of the kindergarten in Abaclia, expressed hope for improvement: "The kindergarten used to struggle with water supply, but we believe that with the help of this project, we won’t face these issues anymore since we will have reserves. The kindergarten has a 9-ton water tank that is always filled."
Local authorities assure that the new aqueduct will resolve frequent malfunctions, enhance water quality, and improve pressure. Mayor Victor Niculiță said, "We have two artesian wells. The issue arises in the summer when water demand increases, leading to supply shortages. Nevertheless, we manage with these two wells, and we hope this project will meet our growing needs."
The project is scheduled for completion at the end of September, with a total cost exceeding 7 million lei.
