At least two people were killed and 28 wounded in Kyiv after Russia launched a second consecutive night of massive attacks on Ukraine, shaking the Ukrainian capital and cities far from the front line on the night of July 10.

n recent days, Russia has intensified its aggression against Ukraine through a series of unprecedented mass attacks. The night of July 10 brought a new wave of aerial terror unleashed from Moscow.

Around 1:15 AM local time, explosions were reported in the Ukrainian capital, along with the sound of Shahed drones. Witnesses observed a large number of drones flying over the historic Pechersk district in the city center, the Kyiv Independent reported.

Later, dozens of explosions and the distinctive sound of ballistic missiles were heard. For about an hour, the city was shaken by continuous explosions. The shockwave triggered car alarms across Kyiv, further intensifying the noise from drones, missiles, and anti-aircraft fire. The air raid alert ended around 7 AM in the Kyiv region.

The Ukrainian Air Force issued multiple alerts throughout the night, warning that groups of Russian drones were targeting regions nationwide, including the Ternopil and Rivne regions in western Ukraine.

The attack caused fires in residential buildings in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi and Darnytskyi districts, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. Gas stations and garages also caught fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Two people were killed in the attack, Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, announced. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the victims are two women: a 68-year-old resident and a 22-year-old police officer.

At least 28 people were wounded, with at least 10 hospitalized. Local authorities stated that some victims sustained shrapnel injuries. Among the wounded were two children, Tkachenko added.

In the Podilskyi district, a primary healthcare center was "almost completely destroyed" in the Russian attack, Klitschko later reported. The attack also damaged a television station's studio. No employees were harmed, but filming equipment was destroyed, causing a temporary interruption in broadcasts.

According to the Air Force, Russia launched 397 drones over Ukraine overnight; almost 200 were Shahed kamikaze drones, and the rest were diversionary drones intended to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses.

Russia also fired eight Iskander-M ballistic missiles, six Kh-101 cruise missiles, and four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles, primarily targeting Kyiv, according to the same report. Ukrainian air defense shot down 164 Shahed drones, eight Iskander-M missiles, and six Kh-101 missiles.

"This is a clear escalation of terror by Russia – hundreds of Shaheds every night, constant strikes and massive attacks on Ukrainian cities," President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on X.

"Today I will discuss with partners additional funding for the production of interceptor drones and the delivery of air defense systems for Ukraine."

Meanwhile, in Kherson, two people were wounded in a drone attack as part of the same widespread assault on the night of July 10. The previous night, Russia attacked Ukraine with its largest missile and drone bombardment since the start of the full-scale invasion, targeting the western city of Lutsk with its heaviest attack to date.
