Moldova gains direct EU funds for social growth

The Republic of Moldova will gain direct access to European funds for reducing unemployment, improving job quality, and supporting vulnerable groups, following the government's approval of the Regulation on the country's participation in the "Employment and Social Innovation" (EaSI) component of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
The document outlines the participation conditions for project calls launched by the European Commission, the eligible areas for funding, and the available forms of support.
Following this approval, Moldovan legal entities – including public authorities, civil society organizations, and other institutions – will be able to apply for grants under the same conditions as those in European Union member states.
"This project helps us provide greater care for vulnerable groups in society," stated Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The EaSI component has a total budget of €762 million for the 2021-2027 period.
"The Government of the Republic of Moldova, local public authorities, and civil society organizations will be able to propose projects supporting employment, investments in skills and qualifications, assistance for people with disabilities, and child protection. This is a crucial step through which our European integration efforts will bring clear benefits to the most vulnerable," emphasized Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu.
According to the government, participation in the program offers access to non-reimbursable grants, support for the development of social services, and opportunities for transnational cooperation.
