Olesea Stamate runs independent in Moldova election

Olesea Stamate, a former MP for the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and ex-Minister of Justice, is running as an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections.
She states that she is backed by a team of "honest and upright people who are working to build a new political party."
She announced that she has formed an initiative group and will soon submit the necessary documents to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to begin collecting signatures.
"In recent months, I've received several offers to run on other parties' lists, even to take over the leadership of some parties. I thank everyone for their trust, but I've chosen the hardest path, yet one I feel is the right one – to run as an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections on September 28. I've chosen a path without compromises, with my head held high, and with the belief that it still matters to be a decent person," declared Olesea Stamate.
According to the CEC, independent candidates must collect and submit signature lists from at least 2,000 and no more than 2,500 individuals to the Commission. However, a female candidate needs to submit at least 1,000 and no more than 2,500 signatures in support of her candidacy. To collect signatures, independent candidates can form initiative groups.
