On Tuesday, July 22, transporters will organize a new protest in front of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.

An announcement was made by Oleg Alexa, the President of the Council of the Employers' Association of Road Transport Operators (APOTA).

He stated that a protest is being organized to express public concern about the "significant and apparent mistakes made by the Government, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR), and ANTA during the European integration process, which have severely affected the road transport sector."

It is worth noting that on July 9, over a hundred minibuses gathered in Great National Assembly Square for a protest organized by APOTA.

The transport operators took to the streets to urge the Government to approve a methodology for fare calculation, withdraw plans for the e-Ticket and e-GPS systems, and abandon the requirement to adapt all vehicles for individuals with reduced mobility.

In response, Government representatives indicated at that time that the transporters' requests could not be accepted without significant improvements in the quality of services provided to passengers.

Following the July 9 protest, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) communicated that it is open to dialogue while remaining committed to modernizing public transport for the benefit of citizens. The ministry stated that the draft methodology for fare calculation is in the final approval stage, following consultations with local authorities, responsible institutions, and professional associations. It also highlighted that the e-Ticket and e-GPS systems would promote transparency in revenue management, reduce the need for controls, and enable efficient monitoring of trips.

Regarding accessibility for individuals with reduced mobility, MIDR announced that it has retracted the previous letter sent to transport operators. However, it emphasized that the law mandates all institutions and economic operators to ensure equal access to transport. The ministry committed to continuing discussions with operators to "identify solutions for gradually increasing accessibility so that all citizens can enjoy road transport services comfortably and safely."
