Antonov An-24 plane disappears in Russia's Amur region

An Antonov An-24 passenger plane disappeared from radar while flying over the Amur region in eastern Russia.
The aircraft was operating a flight on the Khabarovsk–Blagoveshchensk–Tynda route and lost contact with air traffic control while attempting a second landing at Tynda, after its initial attempt had failed, The Moscow Times reported.
“The aircraft did not pass its final control point, and contact with it has been lost,” an emergency services source quoted by Interfax stated.
According to Amur Region Governor Vasiliy Orlov, there were 43 passengers on board, including 5 children, and 6 crew members. Russia's Ministry for Emergency Situations (MChS) launched a large-scale search operation. Rosaviatsia representative Artem Korenako announced that an Mi-8 helicopter and ground search teams had been mobilized.
To date, the search mission has yielded no results, the Baza Telegram channel reported. The Ministry for Emergency Situations also dispatched a special aircraft to support the search efforts.
