Domnica Manole elected president of Moldova’s Constitutional Court

On Sunday, August 17, the Constitutional Court of Moldova elected Domnica Manole as its President.
According to current legislation, the President of the Constitutional Court is elected by secret ballot for a three-year term with a majority vote of the judges, the institution said in a press release.
Domnica Manole previously served as President of the Constitutional Court from April 23, 2020, to April 23, 2023, and again from November 10, 2023, until her judicial term expired.
The newly appointed judges of the Constitutional Court were sworn in at Parliament. The opposition accused the government of "usurping constitutional power."
It is worth noting that on Sunday, the five Constitutional Court judges were sworn in before Parliament, the Moldovan President, and the Superior Council of the Magistracy during a special session of the legislature.
