Șor group: Police investigate paid protesters

Over 40 Moldovan people are under investigation by law enforcement after allegedly being recruited by members of the 'Șor' criminal group to participate in a paid protest on the evening of Monday, August 18.
According to the police, the participants admitted they were going to be paid 1,000 lei each for their involvement in the illegal activities.
The authorities state that the 'Șor' criminal organization, through intermediaries, allegedly involved minors and representatives of various ethnic communities, promising them illegal payments to sow division and incite hatred near public institutions and sites of public interest in Chișinău.
The participants were reportedly directed to provoke on-duty police with aggressive actions. Those identified are being investigated for participating in a paid protest, hooliganism, and disobeying lawful police orders.
Meanwhile, legal proceedings are underway against the organizers and members of the 'Șor' criminal organization.
