ELECTIONS 2025: Olesea Stamate launches parliamentary bid, vows equal law for all
Olesea Stamate, a former MP from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), is the first independent candidate to officially launch her electoral campaign. She made the announcement through an electoral video posted on her Facebook page.
“I chose to stand by you, not by the political parties. I initiated a change within the judiciary, but it was derailed. I believe we can work together to fix things. We need a judiciary that defends the people, not the government,” declared Olesea Stamate in front of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Filming continues on the Pedestrian Alley and in front of the Parliament building, where Stamate presented her main electoral messages.
“I know what disappointment feels like, and I share that feeling. However, I still envision a country where the law applies to everyone equally—a European, free, and prosperous Moldova. There is much work to be done, and I believe we cannot stand aside. I am not perfect, but I have hope. I believe that Moldova can attract investments, improve its schools, and grow with confidence. It is not enough to vote out of obligation or with a heavy heart. An independent vote is a free vote. I believe in the people, I believe in Moldova, and I believe in our European future,” said the former chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments, and Immunities.
Independent candidate Olesea Stamate could be sixth on the ballot for the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, according to the registration order established by the Central Electoral Commission.
We remind you that the official electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections began on Friday, August 29. To date, 21 electoral contestants were registered for the polls: four blocs, 13 parties, and four independent candidates.
The Central Electoral Commission urged all contestants to conduct their electoral campaigns in strict accordance with electoral legislation.
