ELECTIONS 2025 // 23 polling stations in Romania for Moldova vote, 3 in Iași

For the parliamentary elections on September 28, three polling stations will be open in Iași. Moldovan citizens will be able to vote at the Student Culture House, "Gheorghe Asachi" Primary School, and the Faculty of Chemistry at the Technical University, where a polling station is being opened for the first time. In total, 23 polling stations will be operating in Romania. The authorities are hoping for increased voter participation.

"There is an increase in the number of polling stations both in Iași and throughout the country to ensure a fair, safe, and accessible voting process for all citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We are calling on our large community in Iași to actively participate in this democratic exercise, which represents a fundamental right and a civic responsibility," says Ion Coșer, the Consul General of the Republic of Moldova in Iași.
The Bassarabian associations in Iași support a European future for the Republic of Moldova and are committed to mobilizing as many people as possible.
"We recently met with some Romanians from Bessarabia in Iași, and it’s crucial that we all go out to vote. I believe we will turn out in large numbers. We need to engage more with those who are undecided and convince them that Bassarabia and the Republic of Moldova should pursue the European path," mentions Oleg Spînu, president of the Dreptul Bessarabiei Association in Iași.
Students are also getting involved. Approximately four thousand young people from the Republic of Moldova study in Iași, and many of them say they will definitely exercise their civic rights.
"It is extremely important for young people to make their voices heard. As a representative association for the youth of Bassarabia, we are actively working to mobilize these young individuals, informing them about polling locations, voting times, and the significance of being aware of the elections. Every vote counts and can change the fate of thousands," emphasizes Alina Cernenchi, president of the ATRAG Association in Iași.

Moldovan citizens residing in Romania can vote using valid identity documents, including a passport, identity card, or electronic identity card.
