On the morning of September 18, over 50 searches were conducted in the northern part of the Republic of Moldova. This operation was led by the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) in collaboration with the Balti Municipal Prosecutor's Office. The searches targeted 32 individuals and the headquarters of a political party, amid suspicions of money laundering, voter corruption, and illegal financing of political parties.

According to the CNA, members of the group allegedly implemented a scheme prior to the parliamentary elections on September 28 to transfer and convert funds derived from illicit income.

These funds were reportedly withdrawn and redistributed through bank accounts and electronic wallets, including those located outside the country. The money was then illegally introduced into the Republic of Moldova to finance illegal political activities.

At the same time, investigators are documenting instances of electoral corruption. Individuals affiliated with political groups allegedly recruited voters by promising them money, goods, or other benefits in exchange for influencing their voting choices.

On the morning of Thursday, September 18, officers from the National Investigation Inspectorate, PCCOCS prosecutors, and police officers from the “Fulger” BPDS conducted raids in several localities across the country.

These actions target acts of electoral corruption, the illegal financing of political parties, initiative groups, and electoral competitors on a large scale, as well as money laundering committed by an organized criminal group on a particularly significant scale, as announced by the General Inspectorate of Police.

The actions also targeted a criminal case regarding the alleged illegal financing of political parties, under aggravating circumstances.

Also, during other searches, carried out on September 16, law enforcement officers confiscated 20 million lei, money intended for illegal financing of parties and voter corruption.

Since the beginning of the electoral campaign, law enforcement officers have conducted approximately 300 searches and detained dozens of individuals allegedly involved in the illegal financing of parties and vote buying.

CNA urges citizens to report any actions suspected of electoral corruption. The institution recalls that reports can be made anonymously, including through the CNA Hotline - +373 78 710 116, available non-stop including through the Viber, Signal, Telegram and WhatsApp applications, or through the National Anticorruption Line - 0800 55555, a free call within the Republic of Moldova.
