ELECTIONS 2025 // Angelica Caraman: CEC monitors campaign financing, promises sanctions for violations

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) continuously oversees the financing of campaigns by political parties and electoral candidates. It emphasizes the importance of preventing voter corruption and ensuring transparency in this process while adhering to the relevant legislation.

"We are attentive to every signal regarding possible voter corruption actions. The Commission will promptly cooperate with all state authorities to promptly investigate and sanction any misconduct", declared the CEC President, Angelica Caraman, at the beginning of the meeting on Friday, September 19, of the central electoral authority.

According to Angelica Caraman, all state institutions are mobilized to ensure the smooth conduct of the parliamentary elections that will take place in nine days, with all administrative, logistical and technical procedures already "finalized".

The CEC President ruled out any possibility of vote falsification on September 28, as well as multiple voting, noting that strict rules are applied to the electoral lists, including voter signature verification and electronic registration.

"Digital systems are only for transparency, and the final results are validated exclusively based on paper minutes", said Caraman.

The same source emphasized that the election will be monitored by at least 2,600 observers, including 230 international ones.

The head of the central electoral authority also informed that the electoral lists are being verified and will be printed shortly, and will subsequently be distributed to the electoral stations throughout the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

Voters have two more days to verify their data on the website verifică.cec.md or at the electoral office. At the same time, until September 27, they can request certificates for the right to vote, allowing them to express their political option at any polling station in the country.

The total circulation of ballots, approximately 2.8 million, will be printed in full by September 23.

Angelica Caraman said that "the vote is free and secret". She urged citizens to only obtain information from official sources about the September 28 elections: "Only in this way can we combat false information and stop disinformation.
