Dorin Recean: 'We must stay cautious — Russia won’t just give up on us

“Let’s not be overly optimistic, because I don’t believe the Kremlin will simply leave us alone,” Prime Minister Dorin Recean cautioned at the beginning of the government meeting on October 1, just three days after the parliamentary elections. He expressed gratitude to citizens for their participation in the vote and praised state institutions for successfully defending the integrity of the electoral process against attempts at external interference.
"Thank you to the institutions that functioned very well and defended the integrity of the vote. What is important is not to get drunk on cold water, because I do not think that the Kremlin will simply leave us like this; however, we know what we have to do. We have to build resilient institutions, we have to complete the justice reform and then we will be able to build Europe here, at home", the Prime Minister pointed out.
We specify that the Republic of Moldova held its new parliamentary elections on September 28, 2025, during which it elected its new Parliament, comprising 101 deputies of the 12th Legislature.
PAS scored 50.20% of the votes (792,557), the "Patriotic" Bloc - 24.17% (381,505), the "Alternative" Bloc - 7.96% (125,685), the Our Party - 6.20% (97,852), and the "Democracy at Home" Party - 5.62% (88,679).
According to the ADEPT Center's estimates, these results would bring PAS 55 mandates in the future Parliament, 26 to the "Patriotic" Bloc, eight to the "Alternative" Bloc, and six mandates each to the Our Party and the "Democracy at Home" Party.
