PM-designate: Mayors and local authorities are key partners of the Government

On Monday, October 27, Prime Minister-designate Alexandru Munteanu met with representatives of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) to discuss reforms in local public administration, strengthening local autonomy, and strategies to attract more professionals to local administration. These public consultations were held at the Government as part of the finalization of the governing program that the future Executive will present to Parliament.
"The Prime Minister-designate emphasized that mayors and local authorities play a crucial role as partners of the Government in implementing public policies and leveraging the opportunities provided by the European Union.
Alexandru Munteanu stated that ongoing dialogue with local authorities will take place through the Joint Commission and sectoral working groups. This approach aims to better prepare mayors and their teams to access and manage European funds."

We note that Alexandru Munteanu announced on October 25 the launch of public consultations, with the first discussions held with representatives of the business environment.
Subsequently, the designated prime minister also announced the first six members of the new government.
We note that the future Government is expected to be sworn in by the end of this week.
