Man from Cantemir sentenced to years in prison for killing his uncle with a chair
A 34-year-old man from a locality in the Cantemir district was sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder committed with particular cruelty. The incident occurred when he invited his uncle over for a visit. After drinking alcohol together, they got into an argument, which escalated, resulting in the man beating his uncle to death.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, a tragic incident occurred in July 2023 at the defendant's home, where he was hosting his uncle.
"The defendant, while at his home in the Cantemir district and after consuming alcoholic beverages with his uncle, got into a spontaneous conflict with him. The defendant then struck his uncle with a chair, leaving him breathless," the prosecutors stated.
During the hearings, the defendant denied killing his uncle during the altercation.
This sentence is not final and can be appealed to the Cahul Court of Appeal within 15 days.
