PSRM nominates Vlad Batrîncea as Parliament Vice President and proposes initiatives to ‘de-capture’ the state and depoliticize institutions

The faction of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) plans to propose the establishment of a special commission and the adoption of a declaration aimed at the “decapitation of the state and the depoliticization of institutions.” These two initiatives were announced during a press briefing in advance of the parliamentary session scheduled for Thursday, October 30.
"All institutions are politicized," said Igor Dodon, the president of the PSRM faction, noting that both international observers and citizens have recognized this issue during last year's presidential elections and this year's parliamentary elections. He expressed hope that the opposition would support the socialists' initiatives.
According to Deputy Vlad Batrîncea, the parliamentary commission suggested by the PSRM will review all draft laws and decisions "that have led to political control over the Constitutional Court, the Central Electoral Commission, and the Prosecutor's Office."
"Within this commission, we will also analyze the situation regarding the Audiovisual Council. We will monitor and examine the actions taken by the Commission for Emergencies, which have significantly exceeded the mandate provided by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova," the parliamentarian said.
The draft declaration proposed by the PSRM faction, which will be registered after the Standing Bureau is established, accuses "the captive state of various formally independent institutions."*
"In this declaration, we will urge the Parliament to adopt a clear position on the need to depoliticise and reform these institutions. The Republic of Moldova has only one chance for a decent future: having independent institutions. This, by the way, is a requirement of the European community," declared Vlad Batrîncea.
After the briefing, in the corridors of the legislative, Igor Dodon announced that he would propose Vlad Batrîncea for the position of vice president of the Parliament.
Vlad Batrîncea served as the Vice President of the Parliament for two consecutive legislative terms. He was elected to this position in the 10th Legislature on November 29, 2019, and again in the 11th Legislature on July 29, 2021. In his first term, he was appointed by the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), and in his second term, by the Bloc of Communists and Socialists.
