Moldovan prosecutor dismissed for misconduct endangering public security

The prosecutor of the Soldanesti District Prosecutor's Office, Ruslan Stirbu, was dismissed due to poor management of criminal cases. The Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) made this decision on October 30 after closed-door discussions.

The Council of Prosecutors (CSP) determined a sanction based on the systematic nature of the offences committed. The president of the CSP, Dumitru Obadă, explained that the prosecutor's behavior was not deterred by previous sanctions for similar offenses, particularly considering the nature of the crimes committed. This situation raises concerns about security and public order. Consequently, the accumulation of offences led the Council to impose the only appropriate sanction: dismissal from office.

Ruslan Ştirbu has been employed at the Şoldănești District Prosecutor's Office since 2016 and has served as the deputy chief prosecutor since 2017.

In the same meeting, the CSP reprimanded prosecutors Ion Gherman and Valentin Dumbrava for disciplinary offenses, noting that they had failed to properly fulfill their duties.
