A police officer detained for bribing
A man from Nisporeni tried to avoid a sanction and escape criminal liability, and the policeman who was supposed to "help" him ended up being detained in turn. This is an employee of the Nisporeni Police Inspectorate, caught when he was illegally receiving 4,000 lei from a resident of the city.
The law enforcement officer allegedly requested money in order not to issue the perpetrator a protection order in a domestic violence case. The man had previously been sanctioned for a similar offence, the National Anticorruption Center reports.
According to the institution, the criminal investigation was initiated on suspicion of passive corruption committed by a person in a responsible position.
On November 17, investigators searched the police officer's car, seizing the money and other relevant evidence for the case.
The National Anticorruption Center continues, under the coordination of the Chisinau City Prosecutor's Office, the investigations into this case.
