Swine fever detected in Zloti; surveillance zone set up around six localities in Ialoveni

The food safety authorities have set up a surveillance zone within a 10 km radius of six localities in Ialoveni district. This action follows confirmation of African swine fever in wild boars found in the forest near the village of Zloti, in the Cimișlia district.

On November 20, the Commission for Emergencies (CSE) of the Ialoveni district made a significant decision affecting the localities of Puhoi, Văratic, Mileștii Noi, Cigârleni, Cărbuna, and Răzeni.

The CSE also approved a set of measures to prevent and combat the spread of African swine fever within the Ialoveni district. They established mobile teams to assess areas affected by the outbreak and dispose of all infected wild boar carcasses.

Authorities are urging residents and officials in the Ialoveni district to strictly adhere to specialists' recommendations if they encounter dead pigs, whether in private households or forests, to prevent the spread of African swine fever.

The CSE warned that the spread of this disease could result in a regional social and economic disaster.
