Moldova fuel prices drop: ANRE cites platts and global factors

Gasoline and diesel prices have decreased by up to 2% this week. According to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), this development is driven by the drop in international Platts quotations.

ANRE notes that both the international market and the Republic of Moldova's fuel market have been influenced by several external factors.

Among these are signals regarding a possible peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, which triggered a sharp drop in oil quotations earlier in the week.

However, as negotiations progressed, with results still uncertain, prices rebounded to their previous levels.

“Market participants remain reluctant to aggressively position themselves during trading sessions until concrete signs of progress emerge in the peace agreement discussions,” the ANRE statement reads.

Furthermore, the agency highlights the expectations for OPEC+ to maintain current production levels at its meeting on November 30, 2025, as an equally important factor. It also points to the anticipation of a potential interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve (Fed), an event that could stimulate global energy demand.

Consequently, fuel prices will maintain a slight downward trend for the next three days, albeit an insignificant one.

For the period November 29 – December 1, ANRE set the maximum price for COR 95 gasoline at 23.27 lei/liter and for standard diesel at 20.78 lei/liter, a decrease of 0.01 Moldovan leu and 0.10 Moldovan leu, respectively, compared to Friday, November 28.
