They filmed owners’ movements to plan burglaries: Two suspects detained

Two men, aged 37 and 44, originally from Ukraine and the Transnistrian region, would install hidden surveillance cameras in advance to monitor homeowners' movements. When the owners were not at home, they would enter the houses and steal valuables.

Police officers from the Botanica sector, working in collaboration with the Chisinau Police Department and the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office - Botanica office, have detained several individuals suspected of committing at least five apartment thefts.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the total damage inflicted on the victims exceeds 800,000 lei.

The suspects employed a method known as "key collection," which involves identifying moments when homeowners are away to gain entry and steal money and gold jewelry.

Both suspects have criminal records and were previously convicted of similar offenses.

The court has ordered their detention for 30 days.

Authorities are currently investigating whether the suspects were involved in other thefts in Chisinau.
