Maia Sandu: “Strength of Moldova lies in its people” — year-end awards presented

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, honored several individuals with state awards for their professionalism, integrity, and exceptional dedication to their work. These individuals were recognized for their significant contributions to the development of society and the promotion of national values.
In her message to the award recipients, the head of state highlighted that the true strength of the Republic of Moldova comes from its people.
“The strength of the Republic of Moldova lies, above all, in its people — in those who choose to build, protect, and move forward despite challenges. I am pleased to present state awards to individuals who, through their daily efforts, contribute to the development of our country,” said President Maia Sandu.

Distinction: "Order of the Republic"
The highest state honor, the "Order of the Republic," was awarded to Nicolae Timofti, the former President of the Republic of Moldova, in recognition of his contributions to strengthening state institutions and advancing the country's democratic path.
Ion Luca, a winemaker and founder of SRL "Vinfoteca&Co," also received this distinction for his efforts to promote Moldovan wine and to develop a sector that embodies the country's economic and cultural identity.
Oazu Nantoi, a deputy and a prominent voice in Moldovan public life, was honored for his civic and political activities aimed at strengthening democracy and upholding the values of the rule of law.
Ala Nemerenco, the Minister of Health, was conferred the "Order of the Republic" for her dedicated efforts to reform the healthcare system and for her leadership during challenging periods for public health.

Distinction: "Order of Honor"
The state has awarded the "Order of Honor" to recognize the significant contributions of several individuals in various fields.
Elena Aramă, a university professor at the State University of Moldova, received this honor for her dedication to training generations of specialists and advancing higher education.
Ion Basoc, a prominent judo athlete, was honored for his achievements in the sport and for promoting Moldovan athletics both nationally and internationally.
Judo coaches Ilie Buiuc and Mihail Buiuc were recognized for their efforts in training athletes and their contributions to the development of the Moldovan judo school.
Antonio Confliti, president of the Weightlifting Federation of the Republic of Moldova, received the distinction for his role in advancing performance sports and promoting weightlifting at the national level.
Professor Ion Eremia, also from the State University of Moldova, was recognized for his outstanding teaching and scientific activities.
Vitalie Gonceariuc, chief engineer of the Costești Hydropower Node, was appreciated for his contributions to energy security and the reliable operation of this strategic infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova.
Sergiu Gurduza, the Consul General of the Republic of Moldova in Istanbul, was awarded for his diplomatic efforts and for promoting Moldova's interests abroad.
Dmitri Lecariev, president of the National Congress of Ukrainians in the Republic of Moldova, received the honor for his work in strengthening interethnic dialogue and supporting minority communities.
Several representatives from the academic and university sectors were also recognized, including Radu Melnic, director of the College of the Technical University of Moldova; Daniela Pojar, vice-rector of UTM; and Vladislav Reșitca, first vice-rector, for their contributions to modernizing technical education.
A special mention goes to Boris Savva, a coach at the National Teams Training Sports Center, who was honored for his dedication to training high-performance athletes.

Civic Merit medal
The "Civic Merit Medal" is awarded by the state to recognize the contributions of teachers, doctors, civil servants, and specialists who support the functioning of local communities and public institutions through their daily work. Among those honored were Professor Vitalie Andoni, the Director of the Ruslan Baltaga Oncology Institute, and Mariana Bârlădean, the Director of the Center of Excellence in Energy and Electronics.
A significant number of medical professionals and emergency service workers received this distinction for their professionalism and dedication. This included ambulance drivers, paramedics, and doctors within the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Service from several regions across the country.
Additionally, the "Nicolae Testemițanu" Medal was awarded to doctors and paramedics working on the front lines of emergency medical care in Călărași, Cahul, Orhei, Comrat, Drochia, Soroca, Edineț, Strașeni, and Căușeni for their outstanding contributions to health services.
The decree also includes the granting of honorary titles in the fields of culture and art. The title of "People's Artist" was awarded to personalities in theater and music, while the title of "Master in Art" was bestowed upon performers, choreographers, and academics who have significantly contributed to the development of national art.

Honorary title "Emeritus"
The honorary title "Emeritus" has been awarded to directors, actors, choreographers, teachers, and advocates of cultural heritage. Additionally, the title of "Master-Faur" was conferred upon sculptor Vasile Adam and luthier Nicolae Dron for their significant contributions to the preservation of traditional crafts.
This presidential decree was signed in Chișinău and took effect immediately upon signing, officially recognizing individuals who, through their discreet and consistent efforts, contribute to the functioning and dignity of the Republic of Moldova.
