UAE fuel terminal targeted by drone strike amid regional energy escalations

A drone strike targeted the Musaffah fuel terminal in Abu Dhabi on Monday, sparking a fire that was quickly contained by United Arab Emirates authorities. The Abu Dhabi media office confirmed that the incident did not disrupt essential operations at the site.

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) manages the Musaffah facility, which serves as a critical logistics hub. It supports a fleet of fuel trucks and a 1,600-kilometer pipeline network distributing refined products across the emirate.

This attack follows a 2022 precedent when Iran-aligned Houthi militants targeted the same depot. The current strike appears part of a broader regional escalation, marking the third day of coordinated hits attributed to Tehran.

In neighboring Saudi Arabia, state energy giant Aramco (2222.SE) suspended operations at its Ras Tanura refinery after a similar drone strike. The facility was hit during a wave of attacks reportedly launched in response to recent US-Israeli actions against Iran.

Regional instability further deepened as QatarEnergy announced a production halt for Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) and associated products. The decision follows separate attacks on the Ras Laffan industrial complex, according to industry sources.
