€168,000 found hidden in a minibus refrigerated parcel compartment from Ireland

An attempt to smuggle 168,800 euros was discovered at Leușeni customs in a minibus transporting packages from Ireland. During the customs inspection, the money was found concealed within the walls of a refrigerated box.

According to the Customs Service, officers seized a modified refrigerated box at the home of one of the two detained drivers, which could have been used to hide money.

After the arrest of the two suspects, aged 30 and 48, they were charged with attempted smuggling. Prosecutors have requested a 30-day preventive detention period.

The money seized is considered evidence in the criminal case, which is still under investigation as it moves toward trial. During this process, the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
