France wins World Cup Group I as Senegal sets African scoring record

The France national football team secured the top spot in World Cup Group I following a commanding 4-1 victory over Norway at Boston Stadium.
France dominated the match against a rotated Norwegian side, as the Scandinavian team opted to rest key starters ahead of the tournament playoffs. Forward Ousmane Dembélé delivered a standout performance by netting a hat-trick, while teammate Désiré Doué added a fourth goal for the French team. Thelonious Aagaard scored the solitary goal for Norway.
Following the final group standings, France will face Sweden in the round of 32, while Norway is scheduled to play Ivory Coast.
Senegal achieves historic World Cup milestone
In the other Group I fixture, Senegal dismantled Iraq with a definitive 5-0 victory. The dominant performance all but secured their progression to the tournament playoffs.
With this result, Senegal became the first African nation to score five goals in a single World Cup match. The historic goals were scored by Habib Diarra, Ismaïla Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye, and Pape Gueye, who scored twice.
The African side capitalized on an early advantage after Iraqi defender Rebin Solaka received a red card in the 13th minute. Iraq played the remaining 77 minutes of the match with ten men.
