2026–2027 school year: Students will enjoy longer holidays

In the 2026-2027 school year, beginning on September 1, students in the Republic of Moldova will have longer vacations. Overall, they will enjoy approximately one additional week of free time compared to the previous academic year.

The academic year 2026-2027 is organized into two semesters and includes four holidays.

According to the Framework Plan for primary, middle, and lyceum Education, approved by the Ministry of Education and Research, the first semester will run from September 1 to December 24, 2026. The second semester will take place from January 11 to May 31, 2027.

Students in grades 9 and 12 will finish their courses earlier, on May 25, in order to prepare for the national exams.

During the school year, students will observe the following four holidays:

In the 2026–2027 school year, student assessments will be conducted in two main stages: semester theses for lyceum students and national final exams.

Lyceum students will take their winter thesis from December 1 to December 18, 2026, followed by the summer thesis from April 26 to May 26, 2027.

The national exam period will commence with national testing in primary education, scheduled from May 12 to May 20, 2027.

The gymnasium graduation exams will be held from June 3 to June 14, 2027, while the Baccalaureate session will take place from June 4 to June 22, 2027.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, approximately 334,600 students are enrolled in schools across the Republic of Moldova.
