"Sex education is vital, not optional!": Women's march was held today in Chisinau

Today, dozens of people marched in the center of Chisinau to advocate for the introduction of sex education in schools and to protest against violence. The demonstrators carried banners and wore purple scarves while calling for equal rights for both women and men. This year's march featured the slogan "Sex education is vital, not optional!"
The demonstrators highlighted the importance of sex education in schools and emphasized that March 8 is not just about flowers and congratulatory messages, but rather about advocating for equal rights.
“We need to discuss how vital sex education is for society as a whole, as it helps eliminate many stereotypes and prevent instances of violence. Sex education isn't merely about sex, as many people think; it's about understanding our bodies”.
“The message of this year’s march focuses on sex education. We believe it is essential for children and adolescents to receive this education. Moreover, we want the rights of both men and women to be respected”.
“Today is not simply a day for people to share quotes about 'our beloved ones.' Instead, it’s about women's emancipation. Women deserve the same rights and opportunities as anyone else”, say people.
"We organized this march, as we do each year, to stand in solidarity with girls and women and to fight for our rights. March 8 is not about flowers or about 'men taking women's places in the kitchen.' It’s about our power, our voice, and our courage," said Laura Vition, the organizer.
The march participants stopped in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where they demanded stricter punishments for sexual aggressors.
According to last year’s statistics, 21 women in the Republic of Moldova lost their lives due to domestic violence, and one in four women has experienced violence at least once in her lifetime.
