Business coordinators pilot project bridges schools and companies in Moldova and Ukraine

Eighteen vocational education institutions in Moldova and Ukraine will introduce a new role – that of business coordinator – starting this year. The goal is to help students develop the skills necessary for the job market.
The business coordinators will be tasked with connecting schools to the private sector. They will establish partnerships with various companies, organize internships, and ensure that training programs meet current industry requirements, as announced by the Ministry of Education and Research.
This initiative is part of the "VET-CONNECT" project, which was recently introduced in Chisinau during a workshop held at the Center of Excellence in Construction. Participants at the event discussed the legislation governing dual education and the collaborative models for schools and companies.
Liudmila Stihi, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research, highlighted that dual education remains a priority for the ministry and acknowledged the enthusiasm of institutions in enhancing their capabilities in this area.
The project will be implemented in several stages: research and training will commence in 2025, a pilot phase will take place in 2026, and by 2028, the model is expected to be applied nationwide.
“VET-CONNECT” is being executed by the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalization and the European Training Foundation in collaboration with the relevant ministries of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova.
We remind you that dual education is increasingly popular in the Republic of Moldova, with an admission rate that is 26% higher than last year and double compared to two years ago. This year, 45 vocational education institutions are partnering with over 200 companies to provide students with practical training.
