UPDATE: Polling stations in Gagauzia have been closed. First preliminary results

UPDATE: 53,458 voters took part in today's elections for the position of Bashkan of Gagauzia, the autonomy's Electoral Commission informs. According to data received from polling stations, 54.56% of citizens voted by 9:00 pm, which means that the elections have reached the validation threshold.

Comrat electoral authority notified about violations admitted by the "Șor" party during the elections of the Bashkan

Members of the Central Electoral Council in Comrat were notified by police officers about violations admitted by the "Șor" Party during the electoral process, including bribing voters, organised transportation of voters against payment, placing electoral posters in unauthorised places, as well as the payment of funds for this from undeclared financial sources.

Two pro-Russian candidates will fight in the second round for the position of Bashkan of Gagauz autonomy

The candidate of the Șor Party, Evghenia Guțul, and Grigorii Uzun, supported by PSRM, will fight in the second round for the position of Bashkan, according to the preliminary results of the local elections released by the Electoral Commission of the Gagauz autonomy. Mihail Savastin and Petr Ianioglo also received the most votes in the elections for deputies to the People's Assembly.

Elections in UTA Găgăuzia //Voters’ turnout by 18:00 is 48.6%

UPDATE 18:45: According to the Central Electoral Commission from Comrat, 47,417 people, or 48.6% of people with the right to vote, voted by 18:00. The highest voters’ turnout rate was recorded in the town Cotovskoe - 67.3%, followed by Vulcănești- 52%, Ceadîr-Lunga - 48.7%, and Comrat - 45.6%.

Residents of UTA Găgăuzia elect their mayor today

Residents of UTA Găgăuzia are expected today at the polls to choose their mayor, as well as deputies from the electoral constituencies of Vulcănești and Cioc-Maidan. During yesterday, the ballots were distributed, printed in three languages: Romanian, Russian and Gagauz, and 65 polling stations were set up in the 26 localities.
