Aurora borealis, visible in the Republic of Moldova: A unique display in the night sky
A rare and spectacular phenomenon could be observed Thursday night in the Republic of Moldova: the aurora borealis, the bright lights known especially in the polar regions, appeared at much lower latitudes than usual. This impressive phenomenon was caused by a G4 geomagnetic storm, produced by a mass of solar particles that hit the Earth's atmosphere. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has warned about the storm since the beginning of the week, and the predictions have come true.
